Senior Specialist – Legal & Procurement

Role Summary

The candidate will provide legal commercial & operational support to the Global Procurement team as part of the global legal team. The candidate must be detail-oriented, have exceptional administrative and organisational skills and must have excellent written and verbal communication abilities in the English language. The role would be reporting to the India Head of Legal, Ethics & Compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for reviewing a full range of commercial procurement contracts and associated documents.
• Providing clear and concise feedback on contract risks and conduct follow up calls with colleagues to discuss, where required in a timely manner.
• Proactively managing and leading negotiations in collaboration with other members of the global legal team.
• Establishing and maintaining good professional relationships with the business, as well as with external parties such as suppliers, business partners and their legal counsel(s).
• Maintain appropriate awareness of the legislative and regulatory environment relating to key aspects of WSP’s current operations.
• Maintain confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost care and discretion.

Other duties as designated by Managers

• Record keeping and filing of electronic documents.
• Prepare and format procurement, legal and management reports.
• Respond to administration related queries.
• Manage process for execution of documents in line with company policy,
• Liaise with various stakeholders relating to performance of this role.
• Conduct follow up calls with colleagues to discuss review comments, where required.
• Be available for occasional evening or early morning calls with colleagues (some will be based in London (UK) and Montreal (Canada)).
• Input, upload and maintain database and track progress.
• Perform review efficiently and on time.
• Legal research.

Qualifications

Qualified lawyer with 5+ years commercial legal & operational experience developed by working in a reputable law firm or in an in-house legal team.

• Proficient in English (oral and written) and be well versed in Microsoft Office Programs such as Teams, Word, and Excel.
• Experienced in negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Highly developed communication skills.
• Ability to act commercially and to appropriately balance commercial and operational imperatives with legal risk.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and bring to the team initiative, energy and enthusiasm.
• Ability to work independently and report to manager as required.
• Previous legal, Procurement or compliance department experience.
• Experience in Engineering and/or Construction industry would be a bonus but not absolutely necessary.
