Senior BIM Technician - Structures

Responsibilities

Project and Technical Delivery

• Independently create detailed and accurate structural 3D models and cuts for drawing production ensuring the models adhere to project specifications and industry standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural models with architectural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) models. Conduct clash detection and resolve conflicts within model.
• Perform regular quality checks on models to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain model integrity and update models as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure models comply with BIM Execution Plans including implementation and adherence to company-specific BIM protocols and procedures.
• Familiarisation with project relevant standards (ISO, etc).
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.

People and Team Management

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex information clearly.
• Facilitate regular meetings and discussions to ensure team alignment and project progress.
• Lead and motivate the BIM team to achieve project goals and deliverables.
• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Provide guidance and support to junior BIM modellers and conduct training sessions and share best practices to enhance team capabilities.
• Allocate tasks and manage workloads to ensure efficient use of team resources.
• Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
• Input into the recruitment and selection process.

Key Competencies / Skills

• Strong experience working on the structures of metro schemes and station design, ideally including sub-surface/underground metros.
• At least 10 years MicroStation experience, with 5 years’ experience in AECOsim / OpenBuildings Designer.
• Extensive experience in advanced structural 3D modelling, including the ability to handle complex curved and sloping structures.
• Proficient in using Bentley ProjectWise for managing project data and workflows.
• Understanding of buildability principles and good knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures.
• Hardworking and self-motivated, with a proactive approach to tasks and challenges.
• Excellent inter-personal skills, with capability communicating effectively with other members of the project team and stakeholders.
• Well-versed in BIM standards and the latest industry practices.
• International experience preferred.
• Effective team player with the ability to mentor and lead teams to produce high quality coordinated design solutions.
• Technical Focus on the delivery of the models and drawings to the required regulations and quality standards.
• A strong fundamental understanding of all aspects of BIM (CDE, workflows, clash detection, quality assurance, templates, libraries, tools, etc).
• Coordinate information sharing.
• Undertake CAD quality assurance checks.
