Engineering Manager - Software Development (5-8 yrs)

Job Description :

The Engineering Manager is a proven leader who will report to a Senior Manager or Area Director in Engineering.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for nurturing and supporting engineers allocated to customer projects, ensuring they have all the tools and knowledge they need to be successful in their roles.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for training, guiding career growth, and ensuring the success and productivity of their direct reports.

Engineering Managers foster a spirit of collaboration, effective teamwork, and an appreciation for the diversity of background and thought in their direct reports.

The focus of this role is the overall career growth and achievement of engineers rather than the direction of specific projects.

They will support multiple engineering disciplines to achieve practice and corporate goals and therefore must work cohesively with a group of other managers.

A technical background is required on day one, the successful candidate must maintain an understanding of current network engineering practices, i. Cisco, Dell, Cloud, Net-Admin, and tools to better understand the work, expectations, and challenges their direct reports are faced with.

Essential Functions :

- Provide leadership to the WWT engineering team both internal and contractor.

- Provide staffing and utilization management for Professional Services engagements.

- Perform capacity planning for the pipeline of engineering engagements.

- Coach and mentor engineering staff on Professional Services best practices.

- Serve as the engineering management escalation path to customers.

- Build, maintain, and utilize subcontract relationships.

- Complete performance evaluations for engineering personnel.

- Ensure compliance with WWT's Delivery Methodology.

- Evaluate processes and recommend changes to drive higher quality and profitability.

- Provide leadership to the WWT engineering team both internal and contractor.

- Provide staffing and utilization management for Professional Services engagements.

Exp : 5 - 8 years

Require Skills :

- 5+ years of experience in software development building enterprise grade product.

- Demonstrated ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical contributions.

- Progressive software development experience to build enterprise grade product solutions.

- Recent and relevant hands-on coding experience in the technologies used by the team, including Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.

- Prior proven experience as a software engineering leader to manage and oversee global teams and projects utilizing agile based development methodologies.

- Prior experience leading teams to design and develop cloud native applications preferably using Azure.

- Strong understanding of concepts/technologies like MVC, Spring boot, application/API security.

- SAML/OAuth, API governance, service mesh, JPA, ORM, Lucene based indexing and search tools.

- Experience with BPMN workflow technologies is a huge plus.

- Fluent with object oriented as well as functional programming.

- Prior experience designing and developing event driven, high volume multi-tenant SaaS

architectures and platforms.

- Prior proven experience working with high volume data streaming tools preferably Kafka streams.

- Prior experience building data engineering pipelines and processing big data workloads.

- Experience with behavior driven test development preferably using cucumber, selenium is a

big plus.

- Prior experience with design and development of CI/CD pipelines preferably using Jenkins to configure build jobs and promote artifacts from development all the way to production.
