Position: Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager Purchase

Reporting to: Head - Purchase

Location: Sri City, Tada, Andhra Pradesh (Near Chennai)

Role & responsibilities

• Procurement of raw materials, welding consumables, painting materials, packing materials, PPEs, Maintenance spare parts & other fabrication materials
• Prepare purchase order, place an order on vendor in line with purchasing policy of an organization.
• Vendor development Selection, Evaluation & Development
• Sub-Contract Management Develop local vendor / sub-contractor for fabrication (in-house / external fabrication vendors) for rolling, bending, forming, laser cutting, plasma cutting, spinning etc.
• Maintaining minimum inventory level
• Negotiating the price & controlling the cost
• Maintain on time delivery and assure quality norms
• Develop multiple vendors for fabrication
• Evaluate the vendor performance on the basis of price, quality & on time delivery
• Responsible for all purchase, sub-contract management, SCM and negotiation.
• Prepare rate contract with vendors / supplier
• Monitor and maintain of minimum order levels of Direct & Indirect materials related to production
• Estimate correct cycle time of fabrication job, visiting to vendor for regular follow up and review of ongoing project with vendor / supplier
• Verify the suppliers / sub-suppliers follow the schedule strictly and cooperates with technical section to ensure any possible recovery in case of delay.
• Effectively handle internal & external customer issues
• Prepare MIS report to management about transactions made against each category
• Develop & manage strong relationship with vendors / suppliers leading to lower negotiated price, better service levels and long terms contracts.
• Conducting meetings with vendors and negotiate and prepare the contract agreements

Preferred candidate profile

BE (Mech) from reputed institute with 8 -10 years of experience in manufacturing industry.  Preferably in Fabrication, Cryogenic, Pressure Vessels, Boiler, Heavy Engineering or Capital good manufacturing industries.

Should have good experience in Procurement, Contract / Sub-Contract and Outsourcing Management, Consumables Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Vendor Development, Sourcing & Negotiation

Should have good communication skills

Exposure in SAP/JD Edwards is must
