Role Overview:
The Head of Engineering is responsible for leading the engineering team, setting technical direction, and ensuring the successful execution of product and infrastructure development. This role involves strategic planning, hands-on technical leadership, and team management to drive innovation and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Strategy:
- Define and implement the company's engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Make high-level architectural decisions and technology choices.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
Team Management & Growth:
- Hire, mentor, and develop top engineering talent.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Implement best practices in agile development, code quality, and DevOps.
Product & Project Execution:
- Oversee the end-to-end development process, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
- Work closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business needs.
- Optimize development workflows and processes to enhance efficiency.
Infrastructure & Scalability:
- Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and technical debt management.
- Drive initiatives to improve system performance and cost-effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with leadership teams (CTO, CEO, CPO) to drive business and technical strategy.
- Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Align engineering efforts with company growth objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in software development, architecture, cloud computing (AWS/GCP/Azure), and DevOps.
- Leadership: Proven experience in scaling engineering teams, mentoring engineers, and fostering a strong technical culture.
- Agile & DevOps: Expertise in Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automation.
- Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a startup or high-growth tech company.
- Familiarity with AI/ML, Blockchain, or IoT (if relevant to the company's domain).
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy.
