Position: Head of Export & International Sales

Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) / Managing Director
Department: Sales & Marketing
Employment Type: Full-time

Established in 2020, we are known exclusively for cultivating, processing and exporting Basmati rice and other agricultural products. Position Summary

The Head of Export & International Sales will oversee the company's export operations, driving revenue growth and market penetration in global markets. With responsibility for managing a diverse international customer base and the strategic direction of our global sales efforts, the ideal candidate will bring a blend of sales expertise, market knowledge, and leadership to the role. The position requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of export markets, international sales processes, and strong negotiation skills. The Head of Export & International Sales will work closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, operations, marketing, and finance, to ensure seamless execution and growth in export markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Sales Leadership:
    • Develop and implement the companys international sales strategy, focusing on expanding market share and driving sustainable growth in key regions.
    • Identify and prioritize target markets, developing entry strategies for new regions and strengthening existing market presence.
    • Set and achieve ambitious sales targets, driving the sales pipeline and ensuring consistent revenue growth from international markets.
  2. Export Operations Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day export operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to international customers.
    • Work closely with the logistics, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure compliance with export regulations and that all shipments meet quality standards.
    • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping companies to optimize logistics costs and efficiency.
  3. Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key international clients, distributors, and partners.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for major accounts, ensuring high customer satisfaction and service excellence.
    • Provide ongoing support to clients, handling inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring that customer needs are met effectively.
  4. Market Expansion & Business Development:
    • Conduct market research to identify potential customers, trends, and competitive dynamics in global markets.
    • Generate leads, create business opportunities, and secure contracts with international clients, distributors, and retailers.
    • Analyze competitors and market conditions to identify new growth areas and potential risks.
  5. Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and mentor the international sales team, setting clear performance objectives, providing coaching, and driving accountability.
    • Ensure that the sales team is well-equipped to succeed in the international markets by providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and training.
    • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop market-specific campaigns and promotional strategies.
  6. Financial & Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the international sales budget, ensuring cost-effective execution of sales plans and adherence to profit margins.
    • Monitor performance metrics (KPIs) and track sales performance against targets, taking corrective actions as needed.
    • Oversee pricing strategies for international markets, ensuring competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
  7. Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant international trade laws, export regulations, and country-specific requirements.
    • Manage risk factors related to currency fluctuations, international payment terms, and geopolitical risks.
    • Implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's assets and interests in global markets.
  8. Collaboration with Internal Stakeholders:
    • Work closely with the marketing team to tailor product offerings, marketing materials, and promotional activities for international markets.
    • Coordinate with finance and legal departments to handle contracts, payment terms, and export documentation.
    • Support product development and improvement based on customer feedback and market demands in international markets.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. A Masters degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in export sales, international sales, or global business development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of managing international sales teams and driving growth in diverse geographic regions.
    • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, export documentation, logistics, and customs procedures.
    • Strong experience in managing large accounts, building relationships with international distributors, and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Skills:
    • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of export sales strategies, market penetration, and customer acquisition.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a geographically dispersed team.
    • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
    • Analytical and results-driven, with the ability to evaluate market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly.
    • High proficiency in CRM software, MS Office, and other sales tools (SAP, Salesforce, etc.).
