Job Description

Hiring for Eximwala Solutions Pte. Ltd. is a reputable ship chartering business with a specialised focus on handling bagged rice and other challenging-to-ship commodities. With over 4 years of experience, we cater to businesses engaged in import and export activities.



The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the company day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient management and continuous improvement of all business processes within the organization. The COO will work closely with the CEO and other members of the executive team to implement strategies that support the companys long-term goals, manage risks, and enhance operational performance. This role is pivotal in overseeing logistics, fleet management, regulatory compliance, safety, and customer service while driving innovation and growth in the companys operational framework.



Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Strategy & Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the companys operational strategy in alignment with the overall business goals.
    • Lead and mentor the operations team to achieve operational excellence across all divisions.
    • Collaborate with senior management to set priorities and ensure effective execution of initiatives.
  • Fleet & Logistics Management:
    • Oversee the management of the companys fleet, ensuring the efficient use of vessels and other logistics assets.
    • Manage logistics operations, including shipping schedules, transportation, port operations, and supply chain integration.
    • Drive cost-effective and sustainable practices in fleet operations, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Supply Chain & Network Optimisation:
    • Identify and implement ways to optimize the supply chain to improve service levels, reduce costs, and enhance delivery times.
    • Develop partnerships with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operational processes.
    • Analyze market trends to adjust operational strategies and improve network efficiencie
  • Financial & Budget Management:
    • Work with the finance team to develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.
    • Monitor operational KPIs and make data-driven decisions to improve profitability and operational performance.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with international and local regulations, including maritime safety, environmental standards, and customs requirements.
    • Implement risk management practices to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and address potential operational disruptions.
    • Oversee incident management and disaster recovery planning.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure high satisfaction levels.
    • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to understand customer needs and improve service delivery.
    • Implement process improvements that directly enhance customer experience and retention.
  • Innovation & Technology:
    • Drive technological innovation within operations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending investment in new tools and systems to optimize operations.
  1. Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Promote and lead sustainability efforts in all operations, including environmental impact reduction and sustainable practices in shipping and logistics.
    • Ensure adherence to green shipping initiatives, energy conservation, and waste reduction strategies.
  2. Leadership & Team Development:
    • Lead, motivate, and inspire operational teams, creating a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
    • Establish performance metrics and a system of accountability to ensure operational goals are consistently met.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations management within the shipping, logistics, or maritime industries.
    • Proven track record of managing complex logistics, fleet operations, and international shipping processes.
    • Extensive experience with financial management, budgeting, and cost control in an operational environment.
    • Expertise in maritime safety standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
    • Expertise in supply chain management, operational efficiency, and process optimization.
    • Deep understanding of international shipping, trade regulations, and logistics software.
