Civil Engineer

Job Description:

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing roadworks and building construction projects, utilizing various tools and technologies such as Total Station, Auto Level, and AutoCAD. The role involves ensuring projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and to the highest standards, with a specific focus on preparing detailed estimations, BOQs, and BOMs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Roadworks and Building Construction:
• Plan, design, and oversee construction projects related to roads, highways, and building structures.
• Supervise and manage construction activities, ensuring projects are completed according to design specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors for effective implementation of the construction plans.
• Surveying and Site Preparation:
• Conduct site surveys using Total Station and Auto Level equipment to establish site boundaries, elevations, and required dimensions.
• Analyze survey data to assist in designing roads and buildings, ensuring accuracy in measurements and leveling.
• Drafting and Design:
• Create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts using AutoCAD for roadworks, building construction, and site development projects.
• Ensure that all designs are in compliance with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Estimation and Cost Control:
• Prepare detailed Estimates for construction projects, calculating the cost of materials, labor, and overheads.
• Create Bill of Quantities (BOQ), specifying the amount and type of materials required for the project.
• Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement purposes, ensuring the availability of required resources and materials on-site.
• Analyze project costs to ensure alignment with the project budget and make adjustments when necessary.
• Quality Control and Safety:
• Monitor construction progress and quality to ensure the work meets design standards and specifications.
• Ensure all safety protocols and industry regulations are followed to minimize risks during construction.
• Perform regular inspections of ongoing work to assess quality, safety, and compliance.
• Project Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate and detailed project records, including site surveys, design documents, construction reports, and daily logs.
• Provide regular updates and reports to project stakeholders, clients, and management on project progress and challenges.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering teams to ensure project requirements and goals are met.
• Communicate with clients to discuss project scope, changes, and any potential risks or delays.

Required Skills:

• Roadworks & Building Construction: Strong understanding of road design and construction practices, including materials, earthworks, and structural elements.
• AutoCAD: Proficient in using AutoCAD to create detailed construction drawings and layouts.
• Surveying Tools: Experience using Total Station and Auto Level for accurate measurements and surveying.
• Estimation: Strong ability to estimate costs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• BOQ/BOM: Proficiency in preparing Bills of Quantities and Bills of Materials.
• Project Management: Ability to plan, oversee, and control construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in surveying, designing, and estimating project requirements.
