Tech Mahindra - Microsoft Purview Test Engineer (3-6 yrs)

Responsibility :

A Microsoft Purview Test Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and analysing tests on the Microsoft Purview platform to ensure its functionality, data governance capabilities, compliance with regulations, and overall quality, collaborating closely with development teams to identify and resolve issues related to data classification, labelling, retention policies, and data protection features within the Purview ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

Test Case Development :

- Create comprehensive test cases covering various scenarios for data discovery, classification, labelling, retention policies, data lineage, and access controls within Microsoft Purview.

Test Execution :

- Execute automated and manual tests on different data sources, environments, and user roles to identify defects and potential issues.

Defect Management :

- Log detailed defect reports with clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, and expected behaviour, and collaborate with development teams to prioritize and resolve issues.

Data Governance Validation :

- Verify that data governance policies and controls implemented in Purview are effectively applied across the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Performance Testing :

- Conduct performance tests to evaluate the scalability and efficiency of Purview features under various load conditions.

Integration Testing :

- Test integrations between Purview and other Microsoft products like Azure, Microsoft 365, and Power BI to ensure seamless data flow and governance.

Automation Development :

- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks to streamline the testing process.

Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Work closely with product owners, data governance teams, and developers to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test strategies.

Required Skills and Experience :

- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data classification, and compliance regulations

- Expertise in Microsoft Purview functionalities including Data Catalog, Data Map, Data Policies, and Data Estate Insights

- Experience with software testing methodologies (black-box, white-box, regression, performance testing)

- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for test automation

- Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and data management services

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues

- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
