AM - Window Server Administrator (Level 3)

Job Overview

The Server Administrator L2,L3 will serve as a senior technical resource, responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organization's server infrastructure. This role demands deep expertise in server administration, virtualization, cloud management, and data security. The L2,L3 administrator will handle complex incidents and escalations, assist in infrastructure planning, and ensure optimal server performance and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Server Management & Maintenance
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, including Domain Controller promotion, Metadata Cleanup, DNS, DHCP.
• Monitor and optimize server performance to meet organizational standards and requirements.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery by implementing appropriate backup and restore procedures.
• Automate routine tasks, deployments, and monitoring through scripting (PowerShell, VBS or similar).
• Troubleshooting & Incident Management
• Resolve complex server-related issues and escalations from L1 and L2 support teams.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and recommend long-term solutions.
• Maintain incident documentation and implement knowledge-sharing procedures.
• Security & Compliance
• Implement and maintain security configurations to safeguard server infrastructure, adhering to best practices and organizational policies.
• Perform regular audits, vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and maintain up-to-date security policies.
• Capacity Planning & Optimization
• Analyse server utilization and plan for future capacity needs.
• Implement optimization techniques to improve resource utilization and performance.
• Provide input on server hardware, software, and storage requirements.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Document server configurations, changes, processes, and best practices.
• Prepare regular performance reports and metrics for management review.
• Collaboration & Mentorship
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Provide mentorship and training to L1 and L2 administrators to develop their technical skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in server administration, with at least 3 years experience in Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VPN, SFTP, or L3 capacity.
• Certifications: Certifications such as MCSE or similar are highly desirable.
