Job Description
- Engineering Expertise:
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout all phases of railway projects, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., Indian Railways standards, international standards).
- Conduct site inspections, analyze data, and troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Oversee the preparation/ review of technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Design Expertise:
- Review and approve engineering designs submitted by consultants and contractors.
- Ensure the integration of various engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, signaling) into a cohesive and functional railway system.
- Conduct value engineering studies to identify cost-saving measures while maintaining safety and performance standards.
- Utilize design software and tools for analysis, modelling, and visualization.
- Material Management:
- Develop and implement material procurement strategies, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and quality control.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to the project site while maintaining budget constraints.
- Manage inventory levels and optimize material usage to minimize waste and costs.
- Oversee the inspection and testing of materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and subcontractors mainly for P Way, S&T, OHE, concours, lift and escalators etc.
- Evaluate vendor performance and address any issues or concerns.
- Monitor vendor compliance with contractual obligations and project timelines.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in railway technology and industry best practices.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
