Functional Safety Engineer

Tasks and Responsibilities

Required Expert Knowledge Creation or collaboration on functional safety work results, e.g., safety analyses, safety concept, safety architecture, HW and SW development, verification, and validation methods.

Participation in item definition, DIA/RASIC, and the planning of safety activities.

Support tracking of safety activities.

Evaluation of deliverables with respect to functional safety criteria.

Contribution to approvals or approval recommendations.

Support the creation and maintaining safety documentation, including safety plans, safety cases, and safety validation reports.

Provide technical guidance and support to development teams regarding functional safety.

Perform safety verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with safety standards. Coordination with other system safety engineering disciplines (e.g., SOTIF, road vehicle cyber security, machine safety, ...).

Stay updated with the latest developments in functional safety and ISO 26262 standards.

Has relevant expertise in classification of systems and subsystems based on safety relevance and safety concepts.

Has expertise in critical path analysis of system and subsystems.

Has relevant experience in defining functional safety requirements for series products and services in the embedded field.

Understanding of overall System and SW design of Series SW Products and Services, in Embedded Field Good to have System level understanding of On-Road Vehicles, Off-Road Vehicles, or Heavy-Duty vehicles.

Safety Engineering and Software Engineering Expertise

Knowledge of product safety norms (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, ISO 25119, ISO 21448, ISO 21434, e.g.)

Knowledge of safety analysis methods (e.g., HARA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA, CCA).

Knowledge of functional and system development, from a safety perspective Knowledge of HW and SW development, from a safety perspective.

Knowledge of testing and validation methods, from a safety perspective.

Knowledge of requirements management, from a safety perspective. Experience from safety classified projects on software development level

Attention to detail to ensure thorough safety analysis and documentation.

Assertiveness to ensure safety standards are met and issues are addressed.
