Engineer - Paint Engineering

Purpose of the role

Worked on programme, once the KO gateway has been successfully passed, the virtual phase will begin, and Agile product squads will be formed. Within the paint technology to progress the virtual process assessments and to address our design-for-manufacture requirements within the appropriate.

Responsibilities:

• Access and review vehicle geometry using virtual tools in 3D Experience for compatibility with paint processes and facilities
• Develop Process solutions to meet operational targets
• Develop cost effective solutions for all Engineering changes against CAPEX & OPEX targets.
• Perform desktop studies, both ad-hoc and in line with DPA5 schedule
• Evaluate BIW geometry and paint content against Global Paint Manufacturing Standards
• Assess advanced design themes / models to ensure compliance and compatibility with Paint Shop processes.
• Work with Paint VME to define and review process simulations
• Work within product squads to address paint process feasibility issues and to track engineering changes to the BIW that may impact paint
• Support paint tooling design department by ensuring required BIW features are introduced into the product via the squads and tooling functional requirements are defined
• Identify process incompatibilities resulting from product content & design
• Develop initial draft of process deck using appropriate process authoring tool (GSPAS or Delmia)
• Support paint programme lead engineer with progressing through the virtual phase of the programme
• Produce and Review Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) documents to ensure risks are mitigated
• Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Understanding of Paint Manufacturing/Engineering processes, tools & techniques
• Demonstrable ability to create detailed and effective action plans
• Knowledge of MS Office tools
• Automotive Paint Shop Experience
• Knowledge or experience of wax, paint and sealer applications and programming
• Degree or other technical qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
• Experience of automotive model design & development
• Evidence of an innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development
• The ability to work with financial information to inform choice
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex technical solutions
• Knowledge of Agile, JIRA or Scrum methodology
• Project management experience
• Process Authoring experience
• Knowledge of Dassault software (CATIA, DELMIA, 3DX Platform)
