We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Analyst. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing PostgreSQL database schemas, relationships, and ensuring sensitive data is stored securely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience working with PostgreSQL or related database, a strong understanding of database design principles, and a keen eye for identifying opportunities to enhance performance, security, and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Schema Analysis: Analyze and document PostgreSQL database schemas, identifying key tables, relationships, and data flow.
2. Data Relationships: Understand and assess the relationships between various data entities to ensure the correct data model and structure.
3. Sensitive Data Storage: Review and assess the storage of sensitive data, ensuring compliance with industry standards for security and privacy, such as encryption and data masking.
4. Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks within the database schema and suggest improvements for faster query execution and optimized storage.
5. Database Audits: Conduct regular audits of the PostgreSQL database to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with established policies.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with developers and system architects to ensure smooth integration of database systems with applications and services.
7. Troubleshooting: Assist in troubleshooting database-related issues and provide recommendations for resolving any performance, integrity, or security concerns.
8. Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of database structures, processes, and configurations, ensuring clarity for internal teams.
9. Compliance & Best Practices: Stay current on database technologies, trends, and industry standards, and advise on best practices for database design, management, and security.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database management, including schema design, query optimization, and relational data modeling.
• Strong understanding of database relationships, indexing, and normalization techniques.
• Knowledge of best practices in database security, including encryption, access control, and data masking.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization in PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with database auditing and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
• Proficient in SQL and experience with data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to document complex database structures and processes clearly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance analysis software.
• Understanding of cloud-based database environments, such as Heroku for PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of automation tools for database management and monitoring.
