Job Description:

The Storage and Backup Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining storage and backup solutions to ensure data availability, integrity, and security. This role involves monitoring storage systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring reliable backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Storage Management:

Install, configure, and manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN).

Monitor storage performance, capacity, and utilization.

Implement and manage storage provisioning, replication, and de-duplication.

Ensure high availability and data redundancy across storage environments.

Perform firmware upgrades and patch management for storage systems.

Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve storage issues.

Backup and Recovery Management:

Design, implement, and maintain backup and recovery solutions.

Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure backup integrity.

Develop disaster recovery (DR) strategies and perform periodic DR tests.

Optimize backup schedules, retention policies, and restore procedures.

Manage backup software such as Commvault or similar tools.

Security and Compliance:

Ensure storage and backup solutions meet security and compliance requirements.

Implement encryption, access control, and data retention policies.

Monitor for potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

Maintain documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support for storage and backup-related issues.

Work closely with other IT teams to integrate storage and backup solutions.

Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline storage and backup tasks.

Required Skills:

Minimum 3 years of experience in storage and backup administration.

Hands-on experience with enterprise storage solutions (Dell EMC Unity & VNX, Hitachi, HPE XP, etc.).

Strong knowledge of backup solutions of Commvault tool.

Proficiency in storage protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS, CIFS, etc.).

Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

Knowledge of database backup strategies (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
