Unix System Integration Specialist/Advisor (8-10 yrs)

1. System Administration & OS Support :

- Linux/Unix System Administration : Lead day-to-day management and administration of Unix/Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.

- Multi-Flavor Expertise : Possess and apply expertise in at least two Unix/Linux flavors (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.), with an emphasis on Linux.

- Shell Scripting : Write, maintain, and optimize shell scripts for automating administrative tasks, troubleshooting, and ensuring system health.

2. AWS Cloud Administration & Management :

- AWS Cloud Services Expertise : Administer AWS infrastructure with proficiency in core services such as EC2, RDS, EBS, EFS, S3, Glacier, Lambda, and networking components (VPC, subnets, security groups, etc.).

- Cloud Security & Well-Architected Framework : Implement and manage AWS cloud security best practices and ensure compliance with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

- Cloud Migrations : Plan, design, and execute end-to-end cloud migrations from on-premises environments to AWS, including the assessment, strategy, architecture, and execution phases.

- Workload & Application Migration : Collaborate with stakeholders to identify appropriate workloads and applications for migration to AWS, including gathering and validating requirements.

3. Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Design :

- Design & Architect Hybrid Cloud Environments : Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing support of hybrid cloud architectures, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises and AWS environments.

- Network Configuration : Architect and manage secure networking solutions, including the setup of VPCs, subnets, landing zones, ACLs, security groups, and hybrid networking (VPN, Direct Connect).

- AWS Networking Services : Configure and maintain essential AWS networking services such as ELB, Route 53, VPC Peering, and Transit Gateway for cloud connectivity and scalability.

4. Cloud Monitoring & Troubleshooting

- Cloud Monitoring : Implement and manage AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other logging/monitoring tools to ensure the health and performance of AWS infrastructure.

- Incident & Problem Resolution : Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues and performance bottlenecks, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.

- Patch Management & System Updates : Perform regular patching and updates to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date.

5. Advanced Cloud Service Management

- Advanced AWS Services : Hands-on expertise in managing and configuring advanced AWS services like DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS, ECS, EKS, Step Functions, ACM, Directory Services, and AWS Backup.

- Containers & Orchestration : Lead and manage containerized environments using AWS services like ECS, EKS, and Kubernetes, ensuring effective orchestration, scalability, and security.

- Automation & Configuration Management : Utilize tools such as Ansible, Chef, SaltStack, and Puppet for automating configurations and deploying applications across AWS infrastructure.

6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :

- Cross-Team Collaboration : Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to design and implement scalable,

efficient, and secure cloud solutions.

- Client & Stakeholder Interaction : Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand business needs, provide technical solutions, and ensure smooth execution of migration and infrastructure projects.

7. Strategic Planning & Documentation :

- Cloud Strategy & Roadmap : Define cloud adoption strategies and work with leadership teams to align cloud services with business objectives.

- Documentation : Maintain thorough documentation of architecture, processes, and cloud migration strategies to ensure compliance, training, and easy handover for ongoing operations.

8. Continuous Improvement & Research :

- Emerging Technologies : Stay updated with the latest trends in cloud technologies, especially in cloud security, container orchestration, and automation tools, ensuring that the team adopts best practices and cutting-edge solutions.

- Training & Mentoring : Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators and developers, ensuring skill development and knowledge transfer across the team.

Skills and Expertise Required :

- Unix/Linux System Administration (8-10 years) : Deep knowledge of Linux systems and the ability to manage them in complex environments.

- AWS Cloud Services : Expertise in core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, etc.), cloud security, and hybrid cloud architectures.

- Automation & Orchestration : Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet.

- Containerization : Practical experience with ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, and container management platforms.

- Networking Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, VPC design, security configurations, and hybrid cloud connectivity.

- Migration Experience : Proven experience in leading end-to-end cloud migrations, including architecture, strategy, and execution.

- Scripting & Programming : Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, or other relevant programming languages for automation.
