Release Engineer - Turbine Controls Software

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong software development knowledge: Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management tools.
• Familiarity with turbine control systems: Knowledge of wind turbine operations and control software to understand unique release challenges.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines: Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous deployment practices to automate and streamline releases.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop release schedules: Create and manage detailed release timelines to ensure timely delivery of software updates.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams: Work closely with development, QA, operations, and product management teams to align release activities.
• Manage release resources: Allocate resources efficiently to support release goals and manage dependencies between different teams
• Evaluate existing processes: Regularly review current release processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement best practices: Introduce industry-standard practices and tools to streamline release activities and reduce cycle times.
• Facilitate continuous improvement: Lead post-release reviews to gather feedback and implement changes to enhance future releases.
• Identify potential risks: Assess risks associated with software releases, including technical, operational, and schedule-related risks.
• Develop mitigation strategies: Create comprehensive plans to mitigate identified risks and minimize impact on release timelines.
• Monitor risk indicators: Continuously monitor key risk indicators to proactively address potential issues before they affect the release.
• Maintain clear communication: Provide regular updates on release status, risks, and issues to all relevant stakeholders.
