About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager - Legal to join our dynamic team.
In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive legal support across all aspects of our business operations, with a strong focus on the power and infrastructure sector.
You will be responsible for managing legal risks, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and advising on key legal and commercial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management & Procurement:
- Finalization, review, and negotiation of a wide range of legal agreements, including:
- General Conditions of Contract (GCC) for various contracts
- Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
- Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
- Letters of Intent (LoIs)
- Letters of Authority (LoAs)
- Lender Agreements and contracts
- Bank / Financial Institution documents
Other commercial agreements:
- Managing Pre-Award & Post-Contract legal negotiations and compliances.
- Conducting contractual risk assessments.
- Overseeing contracts administration, including correspondence, claim settlement, and handling contractual issues.
- Preparing and responding to claim notices, including extensions of time, liquidated damages, termination, change & variations, and claims.
- Managing contract closure processes.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
- Staying abreast of all relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Advising on legal and regulatory compliance matters across all aspects of the business.
- Conducting legal research and analysis to support business decisions.
- Identifying and mitigating potential legal risks.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
- Preparing and advising on pre-litigation and litigation strategies.
- Representing the company in legal proceedings, as required.
- Managing external legal counsel and coordinating legal proceedings.
Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, procurement teams, finance departments, and external legal counsel.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Other Duties:
- Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or common issues.
- Prepare and present legal updates and training sessions to internal teams.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of legal policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a legal role, preferably within the power and infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of contract law, commercial law, and relevant regulations.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex legal agreements.
- Proven ability to manage legal risks and provide sound legal advice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
