Senior Database Developer

Opportunity Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled SQL developer who will be responsible for designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. You will work other developers optimizing in-application SQL statements as necessary and establishing best practices. Provide data analytics reports for business needs. You will help solve all database usage issues and come up with ideas and advice that can help avoid such problems in the future.

Responsibilities

• Experience in ACID, Normalization & Denormalization & Database design.
• Knowledge required about Azure SQL databases [Elastic pool model] & Managed Instances.
• Experience in handling multiple servers and multiple Databases with heavy transactional (OLTP) process.
• Identify long running queries, Blocking, Deadlocks, locking Etc… using monitoring tools, system tables, DMVs.
• Create and modify existing functionalities such as tables, views, triggers, cursors, CTE, UDT, Temporary tables, temporary variables, Stored Procedures & functions, Json data as per business requirements.
• Experience in long running queries with basic trouble shooting & Execution plan to identify and provide solutions quickly.
• Experience in managing database repository and versioning tools such as azure repo, Git and handling branches.
• Review Database PRs, verify and provide solutions to developers and educate them to avoid future issues.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize database queries for high-traffic environments, emphasizing performance and memory efficiency.
• Basic knowledge on multi-Tenant architecture.
• Fine tune databases to improve performance by creating indexes, optimizing queries, and monitoring database performance metrics to handle heavy traffic loads.
• Experience in any programming language, C# is preferable.
• Basic knowledge of database deployment using DACPAC with CI/CD pipeline.
• Experience in DBA activities such as Index rebuild, statistics update in a timely manner and remove unnecessary indexes and statistics.
• Knowledge of load testing and stress testing to understand database bottle necks, issues and optimize them.
• Write Ad-hoc queries as per requirement and provide custom reports based on business requirements.
• Knowledge on full-stack applications and micro-services-based architecture
• Experience on Production monitoring and support process.
• Experience in Agile-Scrum methodology
• Experience in Change Management and documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant degree.
• 5+ years of experience as an Azure/MS SQL Developer or similar role.
• Able to work with production databases, troubleshoot, debug and provide solution to handle heavy traffic loads.
• Experience with SQL Server Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• Familiarity with the practical application of NoSQL\NewSQL databases.
• Critical/quick thinker and a team player.
• Good time-management skills and problem-solving skills.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of popular cloud computing services like Azure.
• Certification in Azure Databases is plus.
• Knowledge on Azure Cosmos DB and Redis Cache are plus.
