Job Description
Join us as a Senior Database Developer at Barclays, Responsible for supporting the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality and governance standards. To be successful as a Senior DB Developer you should have experience with:
- Hands on experience with Oracle PL/SQL and Unix and exposure to Database design & SQL performance tuning.
- Strong designing database relational schemas.
- Good understanding with Unix Scripting.
- Able to work well with IT developers in multiple locations and across other teams.
- Knowledge of software development best practices and the software development life cycle using Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to shift priorities quickly.
- Analytical skills - ability to investigate and resolve issues in a high-pressured environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and must be independent and creative in approach to problems and issues and be proactive.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Experience of working in the Compliance or Risk domains.
- Experience with Tableau reports a plus.
- Experience with Autosys technologies a plus.
- Experience with software release/build processes (e. g. , Continuous Integration, Automated Deployment, Test Driven Development, etc. )
- Specific knowledge of financial products such as Equities or Commodities.

This role is based in Pune.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
