Job Summary: The Furniture Technician Services Manager is responsible for managing a team of furniture technicians who provide assembly, repair, and maintenance services. The role ensures that all service operations are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a hands-on approach to leadership, with a focus on enhancing team performance, improving customer satisfaction, and ensuring adherence to safety and compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise a team of furniture technicians responsible for repair, installation, and maintenance services.
    • Provide direction, coaching, and professional development opportunities for technicians.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and handle any disciplinary actions as required.
  • Service Delivery:
    • Oversee and coordinate service requests, ensuring timely and accurate completion of furniture repairs, installations, and assembly tasks.
    • Monitor the quality of work, ensuring it meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
    • Handle escalated service issues and complex repair jobs as necessary.
  • Customer Relations:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for customer complaints or service concerns, ensuring quick resolution to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Work closely with sales teams and customer service representatives to ensure smooth communication and coordination between departments.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, ensuring repeat business and positive referrals.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Schedule and allocate technicians to service calls, balancing workloads and maximizing efficiency.
    • Ensure technicians have the necessary tools, materials, and equipment to complete their jobs.
    • Monitor and report on job completion rates, technician performance, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Health & Safety:
    • Ensure all technicians follow established safety protocols and comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
    • Conduct safety training sessions and ensure all tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
    • Investigate and report any workplace incidents or accidents.
  • Inventory & Resource Management:
    • Oversee inventory levels of materials, tools, and parts needed for furniture repair and installation.
    • Ensure timely procurement of required resources while controlling costs.
    • Maintain a system for tracking service equipment and tools, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control:
    • Assist in developing and managing the department's budget, ensuring services are delivered cost-effectively.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency without compromising service quality.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of technician activities, service calls, and repair outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports on team performance, operational metrics, and customer feedback.
    • Ensure compliance with warranty processes and documentation requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in business management, operations, or related field is a plus).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in furniture repair, installation, or service management.
  • Proven experience managing a team of technicians, ideally in a field service or repair environment.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture assembly, repair techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
