Job Description
The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in guest rooms, ensuring a positive experience for guests. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms, replenishing supplies, and ensuring rooms are ready for new guests. The Room Attendant must work efficiently, with attention to detail, while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities: - Room Cleaning: Clean and sanitize guest rooms, including making beds, dusting furniture, vacuuming carpets, and cleaning bathrooms. Ensure all areas meet the hotel s cleanliness standards.
- Replenish Supplies: Replace linens, towels, toiletries, and other room amenities. Ensure the guest room is fully stocked with necessary items like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, and bottled water.
- Inspection: Inspect rooms for maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures, malfunctioning equipment, or safety hazards, and report these to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Waste Management: Empty trash bins and replace liners. Ensure that waste is properly disposed of and recycling practices are followed where applicable.
- Room Setup: Ensure that rooms are prepared to the highest standard, with beds properly made, furniture arranged neatly, and everything in place for guest comfort.
- Guest Requests: Respond to guest requests for additional items or services, such as extra pillows, towels, or other amenities.
- Guest Interaction: Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with guests. Be attentive to guest needs while respecting their privacy.
- Safety and Security: Follow safety procedures and ensure that doors and windows are securely locked after cleaning. Maintain confidentiality of guest information and belongings.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other housekeeping staff, supervisors, and hotel management to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Equipment and Product Maintenance: Properly use cleaning equipment and chemicals, following the manufacturer s instructions. Ensure all cleaning tools are in good working condition and report any issues.
- Turnover and Room Readiness: Ensure rooms are turned over in a timely manner for the next guest, meeting deadlines for check-ins.
- Experience: Prior experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or room attendant roles is preferred but not required. On-the-job training is often provided.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot cleaning needs, maintain high standards of cleanliness, and ensure all areas are properly attended to.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills to follow instructions and interact with guests and team members.
- Time Management: Ability to work efficiently and manage time to clean and prepare rooms within the designated timeframe.
- Customer Service: Friendly and respectful attitude toward guests, ensuring a positive experience.
- Organization: Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, especially during busy periods.
- Room Attendants typically work in hotels, resorts, or other hospitality establishments.
- The role may require early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, depending on the establishment s operational hours.
- The work involves physical labor, including lifting heavy items (such as linens or cleaning equipment) and continuous movement.
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; prior experience in housekeeping or cleaning is preferred but not mandatory.
