Research Associate-Genetics & Plant Breeding

Role & responsibilities

• Plant breeding & co-ordinating field experiments for the development elite varieties with traits of interest in medicinal plants and other target crops.
• Marker assisted selection and pyramiding of multiple traits.
• Travelling to field locations to execute/co-ordinate breeding activities.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications : M.Sc. (Ag) in Genetics & Plant Breeding, the Candidate with exposure/training in the field of plant breeding from an Institute of repute.

Work Experience :

• Development of plant variety or hybrid.
• Should be able to create a hypothesis, design and execute experiments, maintaining the highest standards.
• Specific expertise in the area of medicinal plants breeding
• Design and execution of field trials at multi locations

Skills :

• Proficiency in emasculation & crossing
• GCA & SCA estimation
• Genetic diversity analysis
• Exposure in large entries phenotyping
• Disease scoring and data analysis skills
• Experience in handling DNA Markers
