Excise Manager (Distillery Industry)
Roles and Responsibilities:

Excise Duty Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to all local, state, and national excise laws and regulations related to the distillery and bottling plant.
• Monitor and manage the payment of excise duties on time.
• Keep track of changes in excise regulations and update internal practices accordingly.

• Regulatory Liaison:
• Act as the primary point of contact with excise authorities (Central, State, and Local) and other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate with tax authorities for audits, inspections, and documentation verification.
• Ensure proper filings for excise returns, permits, and licenses.

• Documentation & Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate records of production volumes, raw materials, finished goods, sales, and excise duty payments.
• Oversee the completion and submission of required excise forms (e.g., Excise Returns, Stock Registers, etc.).
• Prepare and file replies, reports for excise notices, audits and investigations.

• Inventory & Stock Management:
• Supervise the inventory of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure compliance with excise regulations.
• Ensure proper maintenance of records for every stage of the production process, especially concerning the excise-controlled goods.

• Internal Audits & Quality Control:
• Monitor internal compliance with excise duty regulations and internal policies.
• Conduct periodic internal audits to verify the accuracy of excise-related records.
• Implement corrective actions in case of discrepancies or violations.

• Coordination with Finance Department:
• Work closely with the finance department to ensure timely payments of excise duties.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting excise costs based on production levels.

Handling Excise Inspections:

• Manage inspections by excise authorities, ensuring smooth operations and cooperation during visits.
• Prepare and present necessary letters, documentation for inspections, audits, and queries from the excise department.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field. A degree in law or taxation is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of experience in UP excise, mandatorily in distillery or liquor manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of excise laws, rules, and regulations, particularly those specific to the alcohol industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and excise-related software tools for reporting and compliance tracking.
