Senior School Economics Teacher (Grades 8-10)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Economics teacher to join our dynamic Social Science - Economics department. Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching & Planning:
  
• Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons in Economics for students in grades 8-10, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives.
• Implement a variety of teaching methods and materials, promoting inquiry and active learning.
• Differentiate instruction to cater to students varying needs, providing support for those struggling and additional resources for advanced learners.
• Assessment & Feedback:
  
• Prepare students for tests, exams, and other assessments, ensuring comprehensive understanding and application of economic concepts.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and grade assessments promptly.
• Use technology to enhance learning and track student progress effectively through data systems.
• Student Support & Engagement:
  
• Establish strong relationships with students, creating an inclusive classroom environment that fosters growth and inquiry.
• Monitor and support students' academic and personal development, liaising with counselors and other staff as needed.
• Participate in parent-teacher meetings, providing feedback on student progress and recommendations for improvement.
• Collaboration & Professional Development:
  
• Actively contribute to departmental meetings and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to teaching and learning.
• Attend and contribute to ongoing professional development activities, including CPD workshops and training sessions.
• Show flexibility in adopting new teaching methodologies and staying updated on current trends in Economics education.
• Extracurricular & School Involvement:
  
• Contribute to the school's co-curricular activities and broader school events.
• Supervise students during field trips, school events, and other extracurricular activities.
• Participate in various school duties, including meal supervision, cover lessons, and other ad hoc responsibilities.
• Family and Community Engagement:
  
• Maintain regular communication with families, offering support and feedback on student development.
• Participate in school community activities and events, building strong relationships with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A relevant degree in Economics (BA/MA) and a professional teaching qualification.
• Recent teaching experience in Economics, particularly at the GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent level.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Economics, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
• Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or similar international curricula is highly desirable.
• Ability to teach using ICT and an innovative approach to incorporating technology in the classroom.
• Previous experience in teaching international students or working in a cross-cultural environment is an advantage.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in teaching Cambridge International Examinations IGCSE Economics.
• Familiarity with the IBDP curriculum and the willingness to pursue further qualifications in the field.
• Experience of working in a boarding school system, either domestically or internationally.
• Knowledge of EAL systems and how to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of international students.
