Key skills for the job
- We are looking for two highly motivated, self-directed, and seasoned legal generalists based in Bangalore or Delhi.
- This job description is for one of the positions which will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice and support to extensively with business leadership and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Regional General Counsel:
- Serve on the India leadership team and provide general legal services across all business units enabling profitable growth while mitigating legal risks and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, company policies and ethics.
Ethics & Compliance:
- Drive the Ethics & Compliance program for India overseeing effective implementation of compliance policies, procedures (including third party due diligence), training and communications, internal investigations, and other initiatives.
Corporate Secretary:
- Perform corporate secretary function for India and ensure compliance with the Indian Companies Act, related rules and regulations, and other corporate laws in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and other functions; help plan for and prepare minutes of India board and committee meetings.
Litigation:
- Manage litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory matters related to India; retain and manage outside counsel and consultants as needed.
New Legal Obligations:
- Monitor and provide timely advice on changes and developments in Indian laws and regulations and assist in developing strategies for compliance readiness with new obligations.
Other:
- This job description is not an exclusive summary of all the duties of the position which include other related responsibilities to provide legal support as directed by the Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and other.
Legal executives:
- Qualification Law degree and admitted to practice law in India with minimum 12-15 years relevant post qualification experience including company secretarial matters.
- Company Secretary certification (ACS/FCS) required.
Work experience:
- Prior experience at a U.S multinational company providing legal support through various phases of growth, preferably with global manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of broad legal subject matters like anti-corruption, antitrust, corporate, CSR, employment/labor, ESG, government contracting, IP, privacy, product safety, real estate, procurement/sourcing, security, sustainability, trade, etc.
- Demonstrated experience managing ethics and compliance programs, including third party risk management, government interactions, trade compliance.
- Proven track record of business partnership with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to influence decision makers at all levels.
- Effective project management and presentation skills with ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Strong customer orientation with ability to maintain independence and autonomy in the face of strong business pressures.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with ease and comfort working independently and as a global team player in matrixed organization.
- Willingness to work non-standard and in-office hours (this is not a remote position).
- Fluency in English and Hindi.
