Role & responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with the company's objectives and market trends in the steel industry.
• Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisition processing, purchase order creation, vendor selection, and timely delivery of materials.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives, value engineering, and vendor consolidation strategies to optimize procurement expenditures without compromising quality or reliability.
• Monitor inventory levels, analyse consumption patterns, and develop inventory strategies to minimize stockouts, reduce carrying costs, and improve overall efficiency.
• Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as supplier disruptions, price fluctuations, or geopolitical factors, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of supply.
• Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to foster their professional growth and enhance departmental performance.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of procurement processes, regularly analysing data and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to ensure the best value, quality, and reliability of materials and services.
• Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively manage supplier relationships and internal stakeholder expectations.

Preferred candidate profile

• 10+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
