Role: Manager Editorial and Publishing Lead - Centre for Thinking, Language, and Communication (CTLC)

We are seeking a visionary and skilled individual to serve as the Editorial and Publishing Lead for TextUs, a flagship initiative under CTLC. The role involves leading publishing efforts, mentoring faculty and student writers, and driving innovative science communication projects across multiple formats, such as articles, books, podcasts, videos, and more. The candidate will also organize workshops and events to promote a culture of effective communication and publishing excellence within the university.

Job Description

Publishing Leadership:

• Mentor faculty and student writers to produce and publish high-quality thought and science communication articles in technology and related areas.
• Lead book projects, providing editorial direction and support to authors.
• Recruit and mentor writers, guiding them to create impactful content.
• Identify and develop new popular science publishing projects aligned with Plakshas vision and mission.
• Expand the publishing ecosystem to include diverse mediums such as podcasts, videos, infographics, and other digital formats.
• Ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of publishing projects.

Strategic Vision & Growth:

• Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in market demands.
• Identify and develop growth opportunities for CTLC’s digital and print publishing initiatives.

Relationship Management:

• Build and nurture relationships with faculty authors, student writers, and external publications.
• Act as a liaison between writers and publishing platforms to ensure impactful communication.

Workshops & Events:

• Organize and conduct workshops on reading, writing, and publishing for students, staff, and faculty.
• Conceptualize and execute publishing-related events such as conferences, writers’ retreats, and book launches.

Digital Content Creation:

• Oversee the writing and dissemination of digital content, including articles, scripting etc
• Collaborate with teams to maintain a dynamic and engaging online presence.

Education and Experience

• 3 years of Experience required in publishing and mass communication related fields

Skills

• Proven experience in publishing, editing, or communication, particularly in science, technology, or related fields, with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in managing diverse publishing mediums, including both digital and print formats.
• Excellent editorial, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, with a proven track record of managing teams and projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to lead and inspire teams effectively.
