Senior General Manager - Global External Supply

The role will be responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and management of all external supply operations, overseeing the flow of products and services from third-party manufacturers (CMOs) and external suppliers. This role will ensure a seamless and compliant supply chain from these external partners, maintaining continuity of supply while optimizing performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to manage the end-to-end supply process, ensuring alignment with regulatory, quality, and business objectives. Additionally, this role will work closely with the Technical Development and Business Development teams to support the addition, launch and transfer of new products, ensuring the smooth transition of product manufacturing to external suppliers or CMOs. In conjunction with the VP of Global Supply Chain, develop and manage senior level CMO relationships to foster long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with external partners and CMOs.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical supply chain, with a focus on external supply or contract manufacturing operations.
• Proven experience in managing CMO relationships and overseeing external suppliers in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences setting.
• Demonstrated experience in alliance management, including establishing and managing partnerships that drive mutual success.
• Proven experience in supporting product launch and technology transfer from internal development teams to external partners.
• Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, and EMA regulations, as well as other industry standards for external supply operations.
• Experience with global supply chains, including managing the logistics and import/export considerations for external supply.
  

• Lead External Supply Operations:
  • Oversee and manage external supply chain operations, including supply from CMOs, third-party suppliers, and other external partners.
  • Ensure the seamless flow of goods from external manufacturers, optimizing production schedules, and managing relationships with contract manufacturing organizations.
  • Monitor and drive the performance of CMOs to meet agreed-upon timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.
• Supplier & Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external suppliers and contract manufacturing partners (CMOs), ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and manage key senior level alliance partner relationships to ensure long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with external suppliers and CMOs.
  • Negotiate and manage service agreements, contracts, and performance metrics with external partners, driving continuous improvement and addressing issues collaboratively.
  • Foster strong collaboration, ensuring partners are fully aligned with internal goals, timelines, and quality expectations.
• Launch & Tech Transfer Support:
  • Collaborate closely with the Business and Technical Development teams to support the on-boarding of new products and partners, launch of new products, and ensure the timely and compliant transition from development to production.
  • Collaborate in the technology transfer process for new products to external suppliers or CMOs, ensuring all necessary documentation, training, and validation activities are completed.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure the successful scaling up of new products, resolving any challenges relating to external partner capabilities.
• Risk Management & Continuity of Supply:
  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure continuity of supply and mitigate risks related to external supply disruptions, including delays, quality issues, or regulatory challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Quality, Regulatory, Global Planning) to resolve supply chain issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all external supply operations comply with global regulatory requirements, including GMP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams to ensure products supplied by external partners meet required quality standards.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions related to external supply processes.
• External Supply Chain Optimization:
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Logistics, Planning, Procurement) to optimize supply chain processes for external products and ensure on-time delivery of products from external suppliers.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs to assess performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities in external supply operations.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external supply operations, managing cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Sales, Logistics).
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to external supply and ensure alignment with the company s broader supply chain strategy.
