Job Overview:
The Senior Manager of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs across all Global Project sites in Lexington,
Sellersville & other North America sites, with a commitment to achieving a zero-accident culture.
This role entails ensuring compliance with safety regulations, fostering a proactive safety mindset, and minimizing risks to personnel and the environment.
The Senior Manager will collaborate with project teams to identify hazards, conduct safety audits, and provide training and support, ensuring that safety protocols are
effectively integrated into all phases of project execution.
By leveraging best practices and innovative safety solutions, the Senior Manager will drive continuous improvement in safety performance, ultimately enhancing the overall
success and sustainability of the organization s global projects while striving for an incident-free workplace

Role reports to - Deputy General Manager (Corporate Projects)
Positions that report into this role : Individual contributor role but there could be additions as the role expands.
Experience
10-15 years of professional experience in Pharmaceutical Industry (API & Formulation).
Active role in the organization s initiative on safety improvement program, Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law, Preparation and review of the Job Safety Analysis / HIRA s, for routine and non-routine works.
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
Preparation and presentation of construction related safety courses.
Motivating the workforce and keep their moral up in EHS aspects.
Assist the Site Management in EHS issues.
Ensure compliance with EHS requirements of the Company and the applicable legal and other requirements.
Organizing Health & safety trainings programs for all employees, Contractors and maintaining records.
Carryout periodic inspection of vehicles, equipment, tools, PPE, etc. for adequacy and follow up for timely corrective actions.
To monitor that the workplace complies to the H&S and welfare needs.
Presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Imparting trainings (awareness and skilled training; introductory; Induction, Toolbox talk and refresher training).
Supporting in Analysis of all change controls raised in the plant for safety impact and recommending safety requirements (Management of Change; MoC). Verification of the MoC recommendations.
Pre-Start-up Safety Review of the newly installed systems or after major modifications in the plants. Identifying the pre and post start-up requirements
Application and maintaining of LOTO system for proper isolation of the process / operations & equipment in maintenance works.
Work Permits: Training plant & EHS persons on the Permit System, Permit issuance, cross- checking of permits issued, field checks during execution, monitoring during critical works (heavy machinery erection / movement, hot works in plant areas, other risky works - height, hazard chemicals, etc)
Training people for height works, providing lifeline, ensuring use of Safety Belts / fall arresters and medical checks, where necessary. Inspection and tagging of the scaffolds, as per company standards. Inspection and tagging of ladders and Tools and Tackles in plant.
Excavation safety: Taking precautions for underground installations (piping, cable), shoring, scaffolding / gas monitoring.
Identification of all Confined Spaces in plant; ensuring - isolations during vessel entry & monitoring during the work; providing rescue device and training.
Equipment/Machine guarding - of rotating / moving parts, preventing slips and falls or hits against body parts. Inspection of hoists, guards, lifting tools & tackles.

Proactivity and innovative out of box thinking is a must.
People management and ability to get work done in high pressure situations.
B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech - Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineering, or a related field..
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or relevant certification are highly desirable.
Experience with quality certification standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.
