To support the emergency response and veterinary teams in handling emergencies (including night and weekend emergencies), animal rescue, and PETA Indias sterilisation and rehabilitation operations and to support cruelty case work through inspections and assisting law enforcement

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Handle emergencies by providing guidance to veterinary assistants and delivering effective veterinary treatment and care to animals in distress
Maintain PETA Indias standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensure veterinary assistants adhere to them
Work closely with PETA Indias Emergency Response Team and others involved with emergency response and ensure adherence to PETA Indias SOPs on emergency response, animal rescue, and sterilisation and rehabilitation work
Maintain stocks of veterinary medicines and equipment and ensure proper storage and maintenance of supplies, including treatment kits for veterinary assistants
Conduct timely quality and quantity checks of stock
Ensure that veterinary records kept by the ambulance team and veterinary assistants are maintained regularly and that veterinary reports are submitted weekly
Manage and help maintain a database of contacts and service providers
Inspect animals, document their condition for cruelty-to-animals cases, and participate in law-enforcement activities, including raids and rescues, travelling for them when necessary
Coordinate professional development training on animal handling, restraint, first aid, and other skill sets required by veterinary assistants for providing emergency response, rescue, and rehabilitation services
Be available for a rota that will involve night and weekend work
Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Veterinary graduate degree approved by the Veterinary Council of India
Prior experience in a similar role, including working with stray animals, preferred
Ability to handle a heavy workload and a high-pressure environment
General knowledge of handling veterinary emergency, rescue, and rehabilitation work
Compassion, responsibility, and self-motivation
Fluency in written and verbal Hindi and English
Knowledge of other local Indian languages a plus
Computer proficiency
Passion for working to end cruelty to animals and helping animals in need
Outgoing and personable manner with excellent oral and written communication skills
Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, including multi-tasking
Ability to deal professionally with animal-protection organisations, volunteers, other contacts, and the general public
Ability and willingness to travel independently, as needed, to handle cruelty, emergency, rescue, and rehabilitation work
Supportive position vis--vis PETA Indias philosophy and the ability to advocate for the groups positions on issues professionally
