SAP Plant Maintenance Consultant

Business Process Expertise:

Possess strong knowledge of business processes and domain-specific expertise in plant maintenance , including asset management, work order management , preventive maintenance , and technical object management .

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on SAP PM, guiding teams and clients on best practices and industry standards for effective asset management.

SAP PM Configuration & Integration:

Hands-on experience in SAP PM configuration , including the setup of maintenance planning , work orders , task lists , maintenance items , and integrating SAP PM with other modules such as MM , QM , PP , and FICO .

Manage technical objects, including serial number management , and ensure proper management of equipment , functional locations , and work centers .

Oversee Master Data Management , including equipment , functional locations , serial numbers , Bill of Materials (BOM) , measuring points , counters , and maintenance task lists .

Warranty & Maintenance Process Management:

Oversee warranty management for assets, including tracking warranties , and ensure integration with maintenance workflows for seamless execution.

Configure and manage catalogs and catalog profiles for use in maintenance processes, ensuring consistency and adherence to business needs.

System Integration & Data Migration:

Ensure seamless integration of SAP PM with the organizational structure of accounting , managing corresponding costing functions in the maintenance process.

Oversee data migration activities using tools such as LSMW and BDC , ensuring the integrity of data during migration and successful transition to SAP PM.

Client-Facing Support & Requirements Gathering:

Provide client-facing support , gathering business requirements, developing functional specifications, and ensuring the system meets the clientneeds within tight project timelines.

Lead meetings and provide guidance on best practices and process optimization.

Functional Testing & Issue Resolution:

Perform functional testing and support activities , ensuring the stability and reliability of SAP PM processes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SAP PM configurations, ensuring minimal disruption.

Perform issue resolution during post-implementation support and production environments.

Solution Design & Documentation:

Analyze business requirements and propose suitable SAP PM solutions, creating Process Definition Documents (PDD) and Business Process Procedures (BPP) to ensure that business requirements are accurately translated into system configurations.

Maintain and update system documentation, ensuring changes are tracked and information is accessible to the project team.

Mobile & External Application Integration:

Configure and deploy SAP Work Manager for mobile solutions supporting plant maintenance and field operations .

Support the integration of applications such as OnBase , Agile Assets , Pontis Bridge Management System (BrM) , fuel management systems , Pavement Management , and Bridge Management into SAP PM to enhance asset management, workflows, and system optimization.

Seamless Data Flow & Integration:

Ensure seamless data flow between SAP PM, MS Azure DevOps , and other applications, maintaining system integrity and minimizing downtime during integration.

Requirements

Minimum 12+ years of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) experience, with a proven track record of implementing, configuring, and supporting SAP PM solutions in large-scale projects.

Hands-on experience in SAP PM configuration , including maintenance planning , work order management , technical objects , task lists , maintenance plans , catalogs , and warranty management .

In-depth understanding of functional domain knowledge in plant maintenance processes, including asset management, preventive maintenance, and work orders.

Proficiency in configuring SAP PM Master Data , such as equipment , functional locations , serial numbers , BOM , and task lists .

Expertise in integrating SAP PM with other SAP modules like MM , QM , PP , and FICO , ensuring the maintenance processes align with procurement, production, and finance functions.

Proven experience in integrating SAP PM with external applications , such as fuel management systems , Pavement Management , Bridge Management , and MS Azure DevOps .

Ability to create comprehensive PDDs and BPPs , ensuring that business requirements are accurately translated into system configurations.

Strong documentation skills to create and maintain system-related documentation for knowledge transfer, training, and future support.

Ability to provide client-facing support , gathering requirements, developing functional specifications, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Experience performing functional testing , support activities , and issue resolution related to SAP PM, ensuring system stability and minimal business disruptions.

Experience configuring and deploying SAP Work Manager and integrating it with SAP PM for mobile plant maintenance solutions.

Knowledge of and experience with external applications such as OnBase , Agile Assets , and Pontis Bridge Management System for enhanced asset management and maintenance optimization.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify gaps in existing processes and propose alternative solutions to optimize SAP PM functionality.

Preferred Qualifications:

SAP S/4HANA: Experience with SAP S/4HANA PM for modern, cloud-based plant maintenance solutions.

Certifications: SAP PM Certification or related certifications are highly preferred.

Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile methodologies for managing projects and software delivery.

Education:

Bachelors degree in Engineering , Information Technology , Computer Science , or a related field (or equivalent experience)
