Job Description :
System Administration and Support :
- Solaris OS management, covering versions 9/10/11 and systems like T5, T7, M7.
- Handle a spectrum of system administration tasks, including but not limited to :
1. User and group management.
2. System start-up and shutdown.
3. Service modification and optimization.
4. Crontab entries management.
5. ACL modifications and file system management.
6. Root and ignite backups.
Virtualization and Performance Optimization :
- Manage Oracle Solaris virtualization environments, encompassing LDOMs and Zones.
Server Management and Backup :
- Use proactive monitoring tools, such as open view, Tivoli, Big-brother, Data Protector, etc., for efficient issue detection and resolution.
- For robust data protection, use backup management software like Legato, Net backup, TSM, VERITAS, and Omni back.
Cluster Management and Storage Technologies :
- Manage SUN/VERITAS clusters effectively, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
Adherence to SLAs and Escalation Management :
- Adhere to SLA response and resolution times, ensuring prompt and efficient service delivery.
- Implement a robust escalation matrix for timely resolution of complex issues and continuous improvement.
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery :
- Lead and participate in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) drills periodically.
- Ensure the readiness of the organization to handle unexpected events and maintain business continuity.
Certification and Continuous Learning :
- Maintain certifications in Solaris OS, to stay current with industry best practices.
- Encourage continuous learning within the team to adapt to evolving technologies and enhance skill sets.
Vendor Management and Outsourcing Oversight :
- Conduct regular vendor reviews to assess performance and adherence to service levels.
- Effectively manage outsourcing arrangements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Shift Operations and Global Support :
- Adapt to 24/7 shift operations, catering to the required Solaris OS support.
- Provide fluency in English and the primary language of the supported country or region.
Deliverables :
- Regular progress reports and incident reports.
- Documentation of installations and configurations.
- Scripts for day-to-day operations.
- Completed disaster recovery activities documentation.
