Mep Estimation Engineer

Job Summary:

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate estimates for project tenders and collaborating with various departments to ensure efficient project execution. This role involves analysing tender documents, evaluating project specifications, and engaging with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing. The Estimation Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the business development efforts of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tender Analysis: Review and scrutinize incoming tender documents and specifications to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
2. Document Evaluation: Analyse drawings, schedules, and other relevant documents to assess project scope and potential challenges.
3. Supplier Engagement: Float inquiries to suppliers and manufacturers to gather quotations for required materials and services.
4. Cost Comparison: Conduct comparison studies based on supplier quotations, analysing pricing and product specifications to determine the best value for the project.
5. Negotiation: Engage in negotiations with suppliers on both technical and commercial aspects to secure favourable terms.
6. Value Engineering: Carry out value engineering studies based on clients' budget constraints, recommending alternative solutions where applicable.
7. Documentation Management: Maintain ISO documentation related to estimating processes, including record-keeping and updates to the Suppliers/Manufacturers Data Bank.
8. Coordination with Draftsmen: Delegate quantity take-offs to draftsmen and ensure accurate verification of quantities before submission.
9. System Pricing: Prepare pricing for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in accordance with project requirements.
10. Tender Compilation: Assist in the compilation of all necessary documents for tenders, ensuring that submissions are complete and compliant with industry standards.
11. Pre-Qualification Preparation: Develop pre-qualification documents and project-specific questionnaires, outlining the companys capabilities and experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in estimation, tender preparation, or a similar role within the construction or engineering sectors. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to project estimation.
