Noww - PostgreSQL Database Administrator - Installation & Maintenance (5-7 yrs)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in a production environment.

You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our critical database systems.

Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers.

- Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations.

- Monitor database performance and implement optimizations.

- Manage database security, including user access and permissions.

- Implement and maintain high availability solutions.

- Troubleshoot database related issues.

- Analyze query performance and identify bottlenecks.

- Optimize database indexes and queries.

- Tune PostgreSQL server parameters for optimal performance.

- Collaborate with developers to design and implement efficient database schemas.

- Review and optimize SQL code.

- Help to create and maintain database documentation.

- Implement and enforce database security policies.

- Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.

- Perform regular security audits.

- Create and maintain scripts to automate routine DBA tasks.

Required Skills and Experience :

- 5-7 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.

- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals.

- Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL.

- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.

- Experience with database backup and recovery procedures.

- Knowledge of database security best practices.

- Experience with high availability and replication technologies.

- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.

- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Experience with cloud based postgres solutions such as AWS RDS postgres, or Azure postgresql.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with database monitoring tools.

- Experience with scripting languages (e.g, Python, Bash).

- Knowledge of other database technologies.

- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, and Kubernetes
