Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Establish, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes in line with customer requirements, international standards (ISO, AQL, Six Sigma), and compliance guidelines.
- Ensure product consistency and adherence to specifications at all production stages, from raw material inspection to final shipment.
- Monitor compliance with buyer quality protocols and manage external audits (third-party inspections, customer audits).
- Develop and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) to drive operational excellence.
2. Production Quality Control
- Lead in-line and final inspection teams to maintain quality consistency throughout production.
- Identify root causes of defects and rejections and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure strict adherence to AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) standards and drive continuous improvement in first-pass yield rates.
- Conduct quality risk assessments before production starts to identify and mitigate potential defects.
3. Process Improvement & Lean Manufacturing
- Drive Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen initiatives to minimize defects, reduce wastage, and optimize process efficiency.
- Work closely with production and technical teams to enhance product engineering, process optimization, and defect prevention.
- Conduct statistical analysis of quality trends and implement data-driven solutions for quality improvement.
4. Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing quality team, including inline QC, final inspectors, and lab testing personnel.
- Conduct training programs for quality inspectors, line supervisors, and operators on quality standards, defect identification, and corrective actions.
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within the quality function.
5. Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Act as the primary liaison between buyers, production teams, and suppliers to address and resolve quality concerns.
- Conduct supplier quality audits and ensure raw material and trims meet quality expectations.
- Work proactively with merchandising and sourcing teams to address customer feedback and quality-related claims.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- First-pass quality yield (%) - Target improvement in production quality.
- Defect per hundred units (DHU%) - Reduction in defects.
- Audit pass rate (%) - Compliance with buyer and third-party audits.
- Claims and rejections (%) - Minimize returns and quality claims from buyers.
- Supplier quality rating (%) - Ensuring consistent quality of raw materials.
- Training hours per employee - Enhancing quality awareness and skills.
- Cost Per Minute (CPM) Reduction (%) - Driving cost-saving initiatives.
