Lab Technician

Shift Duties:

• Rotational (Morning, Evening & Night) & 6-Days Work week.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Perform routine clinical laboratory tests in Hematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, Clinical pathology, Blood Storage, Phlebotomy duties, Accessioning of samples and Outsourcing samples.
• To guide Billing and Nursing for raising proper voucher of the test prescribed by the clinician.
• Coordinating with various departments.ie: Casualty, Nursing, Bio medical, Housekeeping, PCAs Customer care, for smooth flow of performing laboratory tests.
• Complying with safety guidelines and biomedical waste management rules for infection control.
• Perform routine clinical laboratory tests in Hematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, Clinical pathology, Blood Storage, Phlebotomy duties Accessioning of samples and Outsourcing samples.
• Verifying patient prescription with voucher generated for requested lab tests
• Sample collection for OPD and IPD patients as per protocol.
• Explaining instructions to patients from time to time before and after sample collection.
• Clinical correlation of the results with patients history.
• Interpretation of results of lab tests.
• Proactive approach on handling of critical values.
• Meeting turn around time for performing tests and delivering reports.
• Maintaining records of lab results, QC, calibration and temperature.
• Daily Maintenance of Instruments and handling troubleshooting.
• Ensuring daily quality control protocols are adhered
• Managing storage and discard of samples.
• Outsourcing of samples as per protocol.
• Undertaking task allocated by Lab Team Leader / HOD Pathology
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge and continuing education workshops.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and safety protocols.
• Review standard operating procedure as per guidelines.
