Job Description

Role Overview

As Senior Manager of HPC Application Support, you are responsible to provide HPC resources, tools, and expertise to accelerate business outcomes through complex algorithms and pipelines. Collaborate with research scientists, senior HPC SMEs (US/Prague/Singapore), Cloud Engineers, and Technical Analysts to build and maintain HPC applications, driving innovation in life-saving drug discovery at our company Research Labs. Ultimately, you will play a key role in implementing efficient tools on AWS to enhance research scientists UX in utilizing compute-intensive applications to accelerate research outcomes.

What will you do in this role:

Take ownership of applications in the HPC environment in both on-premises and AWS, maintain inventory and researcher-friendly user guides.
Work closely with data scientists, developers, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of RStudio, Jupyter, VS Code, Connect and other applications.
Provide tier3-level support for applications running on Linux systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
Track and manage incidents using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and communication with users.
Assist users with application-related queries, provide training, and create user documentation which offers world-class UX.
Manage environment modules (lmod) and access to HPC toolbox including, but not limited to Posit Workbench, Posit Connect, Openeye, Schrodinger and a larger number of other tools.
Automate routine system administration tasks, such as user management, system monitoring, and performance tuning to improve efficiencies.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices for application support.
Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director, as well as collaborating with other teams.
Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.

What should you have:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (with relevant experience).
5+ years of hands-on experience in application management within a complex Linux environment.
Proven proficiency in Linux system administration, shell scripting (Bash, Python, or others), and troubleshooting complex application issues.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Posit Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager on Linux servers.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and monitoring tools (e.g., Cloud Watch).
Familiarity with job schedulers like SLURM, AWS ParallelCluster, GridEngine, PBS Pro or other HPC workload managers.
Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate assessments and reporting.
Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
Ability to coordinate with various teams.
Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
