Job Summary
Team Lead - QA shall be responsible for understanding of the domain and using that understanding to enhance work output in terms of functionality of software applications. This Role will be responsible for providing guidance to the teams on the test cases to be developed for the specific requirements; Resolving problems and identifying opportunities during the entire SDLC process; Defining the process and strategy for the automation testing; Guiding teams in the automation test principles and strategies; Making a decision on the type of platform to be used for the applications (Windows, Web, SharePoint etc.); Assess and diagnose issues during the requirement gathering process; Determine preliminary solutions to identified issues and gaps; Plan test schedules and strategies in accordance with project delivery dates. Establishing frameworks guidelines to help teams identify test objectives, success failure criteria and test completion criteria. Supporting creation of thought leadership (POVs, research papers) across the automation testing environment. Must work towards continuously aligning test activities to prioritized requirements stack/product backlogs and JIT (just in time) model storms.
Competencies:
- Complete understanding of production infrastructure, the product being tested and its usage interfaces/ other dependencies of the product
- Determining the process and strategy to be used in software design at a project level (Agile, top-down, bottom up, stepwise refinement, use of patterns and pattern languages, iterative and incremental processes etc.)
- Assessing and evaluating project planning management tools to recommend tools for use
- Identifying risks across the project life-cycle and conceive mitigation strategies
- Creating program plans spanning across multiple projects modules to drive overall program effectiveness in terms of quality, cost and time
- Measuring program performance against target and publish dashboards to leadership
- Analyzing scope change requests to make informed decision on resourcing, cost and time estimation
- Effectively managing all escalations in-line with organization norms
- Driving speed and automation of builds by writing process improvement scripts to be run on CM tools
- Building capability of the team by identifying training needs on CM practices and tool usage; Driving efficiency in development by suggesting improvements to CM practices (including multi-site, distributed development) and processes (branching, build, backup etc.)
- Ensuring no errors in development by troubleshooting and resolving CM problems
- Guiding teams in the automation test principles and strategies
- Resolving problems and identifying opportunities for improvement across the automation testing environment
- Ensuring correctness and completeness of builds by using CM tools and its features (check in, checkout, merge, build, work area, branch, version and release numbering etc.)
- Understanding the software development lifecycle and understanding the overall application development space
- Driving initiatives related to organization-wide application of software design fundamentals
- Conceptualize and oversee the design for non-functional requirements like scalability, extensibility, reuse, performance, security etc.
- Implementing AGILE practices for the team / project and ensuring it is on track; Assessing and diagnosing issues faced in AGILE
- Determining preliminary solutions to identified issues and gaps
- Driving CI/CD processes
Technical Skills:
- Testing principles methodologies, testing methods (Regression testing, Usability testing, Acceptance Testing, System testing, Performance testing, Load Testing etc.), automation tools/techniques, software testing infrastructure, Continuous Integration / Deployment processes
- OOPS concepts, SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), Choice of Data structures to be used in design, Problem solving techniques, Functional and Technical design documents (MD050/MD070/HLL etc.), Security framework (Assessing vulnerabilities, Secured Code, SSL/Non-SSL, Vulnerability tests)
- Agile practices, Alternative programming approaches (ADM/Scrum or Xtreme programming, KanBan, Re-factoring), ALM tools (TFS, Stat, Jira, etc.), Continuous Integration/ Deployment processes
- Scoping, Scheduling, Resourcing, Effort estimation techniques, Software Development methodologies (AGILE, SCRUM, XP etc.), Work breakdown structures, Gantt charts and similar planning tools, Project requirements and goals, Communication/Escalation procedures, Microsoft Tools such as Visio and Microsoft Project
- Configuration management (CM) concepts/ procedures, Packaging tools such as (MS Build, Installshield etc.), CM tools (TFS, CVS, VSS, Clear Case, Perforce etc.), Power shell scripting, Incident/Problem Management
- Product Architecture and design
Educational Qualification and Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of formal education - Graduate / Post Graduate in Computer Science / Information Technology
Professional work experience of 10 to 12 years in QA Automation Testing
