Job Description

Overview: The Head of Logistics will lead and manage the logistics operations for the organization, with a primary focus on international logistics. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring timely delivery of goods across global markets, and optimizing logistics processes for cost efficiency and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in logistics, with a proven track record in managing international supply chains, global transportation, and distribution networks.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership and Strategy:


    • Develop and execute the global logistics strategy aligned with the company's business objectives and growth plans.
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing logistics team, driving continuous improvement and professional development.
    • Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of logistics processes with procurement, sales, and customer service.

International Logistics Operations:


    • Oversee the international transportation network, including air, sea, and road freight, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods across borders.
    • Manage relationships with international carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
    • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation requirements.

Cost Optimization and Efficiency:


    • Analyze and optimize the global supply chain to reduce operational costs, improve service levels, and increase overall efficiency.
    • Identify and implement technology solutions (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP) to enhance logistics processes and data-driven decision-making.
    • Lead efforts to streamline processes, reduce lead times, and improve inventory management.

Risk Management and Compliance:


    • Ensure all international logistics operations comply with regulatory standards, including customs laws, international shipping regulations, and health and safety requirements.
    • Proactively manage risks related to global logistics, including political, environmental, and economic factors that could affect supply chains.
    • Develop contingency plans and mitigate disruptions in international transportation and delivery.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:


    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance, including on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on logistics performance, issues, and cost-saving initiatives to the executive team.
    • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to stay ahead of market demands.

Customer Service and Relationship Management:


    • Work closely with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, and customer service) to ensure timely and efficient order fulfilment.
    • Address and resolve logistics-related customer complaints or issues, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including suppliers, third-party vendors, and service providers.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in an international logistics leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of international trade, customs compliance, global shipping, and transportation management.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale logistics operations and optimizing global supply chains.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., JD Edwards and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing global market conditions.

Preferred Skills:


  • Professional certifications such as APICS, CLTD, or CILT.
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives in logistics and supply chain management.
