Job Description
Position Title:
Manager - Indirect Taxation
Job Purpose:
- The role holder is responsible for ensuring the timely finalization of provisional assessments for domestic and export clearances of copper products, managing job-work compliance, redemption of EPCG licenses, ITC reconciliation, and handling audits under Excise and GST Acts.
Key Challenges:
- Securing final assessment orders from GST officials promptly, especially when the GSTN system lacks necessary support.
- Ensuring timely finalization of shipping bills with Customs authorities for export shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Optimize the use of GST provisions to minimize duty outflows.
Operational Excellence:
- Obtain final assessment orders from GST authorities within stipulated timelines.
- Ensure timely submission of job work returns.
- Perform ITC reconciliation accurately and promptly.
- Finalize shipping bills without delays.
- File post-export documents with GST authorities within deadlines.
- Submit audit records and reports on time.
- Manage sales return processes and formalities efficiently.
Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to GST statutes, rules, provisions, and notifications.
- Maintain compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS), health and safety norms, environmental guidelines, and security protocols.
Customer-Centricity:
- Provide accurate and timely updates on GST compliance status to relevant stakeholders.
Sustainability and Process Improvement:
- Enhance workflows to improve efficiency and expedite processes.
- Leverage automated platforms for record-keeping and reporting to maintain accuracy.
People Development and Engagement:
- Monitor and enhance team performance through regular evaluations.
- Organize training programs to improve technical and behavioral competencies and increase safety awareness.
- Foster engagement and motivation among team members to establish a 5S culture.
Technical Competencies:
- Strong understanding of indirect taxation laws, including recent updates and international applicability.
- Proficiency in accounting standards and technical processes related to the industry.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Leadership skills with a focus on decision-making and team management.
- Alignment with organizational leadership competencies.
Direct Reports:
- Manage an Assistant-GST to handle job-work details, return preparation, and the final assessment of domestic and export supplies, including shipping bill finalization.
Key Relationships:
Internal Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with the F&A team for ITC reconciliation and payment processing.
- Work with the IT team to implement system changes, address discrepancies, and finalize reports.
- Coordinate with the Marketing team to obtain provisional and final pricing, e-BRCs, and commercial invoices.
External Stakeholders:
- Engage with GST authorities to secure final assessment orders and manage compliance correspondence.
- Interact with DGFT regional offices to obtain Export Obligation Discharge Certificates (EODCs).
- Liaise with CHAs for shipping bill finalization.
- Consult legal advisors to address statutory and legal provisions.
