Project Management Head - Smelter & Refinery Operations

Location: Gujarat, Bharuch

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Oversight:

- Lead and manage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) activities for furnaces, cathode production lines, and electrolysis cells, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.

- Supervise site activities, including structural, mechanical, and electrical works, for smelter and refinery construction.

- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to safety, design, and execution plans.

Project Planning and Execution:

- Develop comprehensive project schedules, resource plans, and budgets tailored to smelter and refinery construction needs.

- Oversee project milestones, ensuring timely handover of construction phases.

Quality Assurance:

- Implement robust quality control systems for construction materials and workmanship.

- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.

Technical Coordination:

- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to validate construction drawings and resolve on-site technical challenges.

- Ensure proper integration of equipment with infrastructure during installation phases.

Risk and Safety Management:

- Conduct risk assessments and enforce HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols across all construction activities.

- Ensure all construction practices meet statutory and environmental compliance requirements.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

- Evaluate and manage contractors for civil, structural, and mechanical works.

- Negotiate and oversee contracts for construction equipment and services.

Commissioning Support:

- Facilitate smooth transition from construction to commissioning phases for smelter and refinery operations.

- Oversee pre-commissioning checks and ensure operational readiness of all constructed systems.

Cost Control:

- Monitor construction costs and implement measures to avoid overruns.

- Prepare detailed reports on construction progress and budget utilization.

Key Qualifications:

- BE in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, with a preference for Civil Engineers experienced in structural works.

- Strong expertise in managing large-scale smelter and refinery construction projects.

- Hands-on experience with EPC contracts and familiarity with Indian construction codes (IS standards).

- Proven track record in managing high-value infrastructure projects in the metallurgical or process industries.
