Job Summary:

As a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) in Packaging Development and Sourcing, you will play an integral role in assisting the design, development, and procurement of innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and exposure to the packaging lifecycle, supplier coordination, and cross-functional team collaboration, setting the foundation for a rewarding career in packaging engineering and sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Development:

• Assist in the design and testing of packaging solutions for products, ensuring alignment with branding, functionality, and sustainability goals.
• Support material selection and prototype development for various packaging types (e.g., primary, secondary, tertiary/Master carton).
• Conduct research on emerging trends and innovations in packaging materials and designs.
• Perform basic quality checks and assist in compliance with packaging standards and regulations.

Sourcing Support:

• Collaborate with senior team members to identify and evaluate packaging material suppliers.
• Support supplier negotiations and maintain procurement documentation.
• Help analyse cost-saving opportunities and present findings to senior management.

Cross-functional Coordination:

• Work with internal teams, including marketing/BD, Costing, Quality, product development and supply chain, to align packaging solutions with business objectives.
• Participate in cross-functional project meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
• Assist in troubleshooting packaging issues during production.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelors degree/Diploma in Packaging Technology/Engineering.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
• Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
• Team-oriented with a proactive approach to tasks.
