Head of the Department - English

Role & responsibilities -

1. Academic Leadership

• Lead the department in curriculum development, implementation, and review in line with UGC regulations.
• Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and research activities.
• Promote interdisciplinary studies and skill-based learning in English and Communication.

2. Faculty & Student Management:

• Supervise faculty recruitment, workload distribution, and performance evaluation.
• Guide faculty members in research, publications, and professional development.
• Foster student engagement through mentorship, academic guidance, and extracurricular initiatives.

3. Administrative & Compliance Duties:

• Ensure adherence to UGC norms and university policies for academic operations.
• Oversee departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and infrastructure development.
• Represent the department in university committees and external academic bodies.

4. Industry & Community Engagement:

• Develop partnerships with media, publishing, corporate communication, and educational institutions.
• Organize workshops, conferences, and outreach programs to enhance industry-academia linkages.

Qualifications & Experience -

• Educational Qualification: Ph.D. in English / Communication or a related field as per UGC guidelines.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in teaching/research with at least 2 years in an academic leadership role.
• Preferred candidate profile Proven track record of research, publications in UGC CARE / Scopus-indexed journals, and project handling.
• Skills: Academic administration, curriculum development, faculty leadership, research mentorship, and industry collaboration.
