Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities:
- Participate and contribute to the development and refining of the vision and strategy for the GIFT City Branch. Contribute to the overall process of management and corporate decision ensuring the Bank maximizes its profitability and returns to stakeholders.
- Answerable to the International Banking Chief of Staff and Executive Committee for all governance and control matters including overseeing management of various risks within the branch including key regulatory engagements, internal and external auditors and relevant government officials interactions.
- As member of the branch management committee, contribute towards strengthening the governance framework of the branch and serve as a chair or a member of varying Bank committees as designated by the IBG Group Head
- Understand the regulatory framework for Banking and Financial Services and proactively track developments while fostering and building relationships with country regulators. Always ensure that the Bank's operations and transactions fully comply with local regulatory requirements and legislation
- Chair the branch Management Committee; the main escalation platform for Country Management Committees that enables identification, assessment, monitoring and overall management of risks present in the branch.
- Formulate, develop and execute the branch's short, medium and long term branch strategy
- Demonstrate thoughtful leadership, guiding team members and providing the necessary support and tools to assist in achieving the highest performance level
- Review regularly the organization structure and operational efficiencies within the branch. Initiate and review studies to implement changes, optimize the workings of the reporting functions as appropriate to improve effectiveness
- Propose and agree annual operating plans and budgets with peers at HO and monitor performance against plan. Initiate corrective actions as required to avoid divergence from the plan.
- Oversee and regularly evaluate financial and operational performance of overseas branches against strategic and annual business plans
- Represent the Branch at regional and international banking meetings and forums to keep abreast of development in the industry and present the Bank's capability to potential customers and partners.
- Direct the process of effective manpower planning in liaison with HR including recruiting, training, developing and enhancing capabilities of staff; adopting and implementing relevant HR best practices and ensuring a high level of employee engagement and motivated work environment.
Problem Solving:
- Take decisions relating to operational and administrative matters in a dynamic environment after understanding the prevailing legal and regulatory environment, taxation, and best business practices.
- Determine the broad strategy for businesses in GIFT City which are integral to the core purpose of the bank
- Provide strategic guidance to the new areas of development, vigilance, legal, management processes and documentation related problems.
Decision Making Authority & Responsibility:
- The job holder reports to the International Banking Group Chief of Staff and will chair the GIFT City Branch Management Committee.
- The jobs holder also sits on several other key executive committees and plays a significant role in the corporate decision-making and governance of the GIFT City Branch.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree in international trade, CFA or MBA is preferred.
- 15 Years of Banking Experience
- Sound Knowledge and experience of domestic & international markets, banking operations, and foreign trade processes.
- Leadership skills to include visionary & strategic planning capacity together with interpersonal, communication, motivational & team working skills
- Strong capability to interpret financial statements / balance sheets / cash flow statements etc.
