Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team at MailerCloud
The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting strategic financial initiatives
This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting Analysis:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS)
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management
Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial projections
General Ledger Management
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of journal entries and reconciliations
Perform monthly and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper reconciliation between entities
Accounts Payable Receivable
Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections
Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payments
Tax Compliance Filing
Prepare and file corporate tax returns, including sales tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
Coordinate with external auditors for tax audits and assist in implementing any recommendations
Financial Controls Audit
Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
Prepare for and manage annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support to external auditors
Assist in the development and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures
Cash Flow Treasury Management
Monitor cash flow and assist in cash management activities to ensure sufficient funds for day-to-day operations
Support treasury functions, including managing bank relationships and overseeing banking transactions
Team Collaboration Support
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, and sales, to provide financial support and ensure accurate financial reporting
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance
Ad-Hoc Financial Projects
Participate in special projects and financial analysis as needed, including mergers and acquisitions, cost-saving initiatives, and system implementations
Continuously improve accounting processes and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
Education Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred
Experience in SaaS or tech industry accounting is a plus
Technical Skills
Proficiency in accounting software Zoho Books QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills
Familiarity with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance
Skills Attributes
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior team members
