Job Summary
Lowe s currently undertaking a project to convert many of its vendor partners from Prepaid freight terms to Collect. This means that the control of the freight would move from a vendor to Lowe s managed. This opportunity is both within regular stock product, as well as, Special Order Sales (SOS). There are many benefits to Lowe s when making these transitions:
The ability to decouple freight from product cost on Lowes.com, thus making our pricing more competitive on-line.
Increased visibility of shipments moving to our RDCs, Stores and customers
Increased flexibility to manage inbound freight, including increasing back-haul opportunities into our DCs
Lower landed costs, and higher profitability by leveraging our superior freight rates compared to our suppliers.
Leveraging increased scale with current carrier base to lower Lowe s overall freight rates, thus making all Lowe s programs more profitable
Deleverage our supplier s volume with their shippers, causing their cost to serve their other customers to go up.

Opportunity to deliver better rates to Lowe s, thus gaining more Lowe s business

This position would be part of a larger US based team that will solely focus on attacking this project for both SOS and Stock.
Roles Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities:
The Freight Optimization Specialist (FOS) will be aligned to the Freight Optimization Team and will be responsible helping perform complex analytics that will help the US team negotiate the separation of Freight from cost from the supplier community
The FOS must be capable of modeling complex Costing and Margin Impact Scenarios in an Excel Environment using complex Index and VHLookup Formulas, Complex Nested Logic Statements, VBA Coding, and Vast Knowledge of Excel Macro Functions
The FOS must have a good understanding for US freight providers. This will allow them to better understand the cost structures of carriers and discount tiers.
The FOS must also be able to create tools to systemically remove a vendor s freight from cost to support the negotiation with the vendor to have it taken out. This will include pulling data from multiple locations and systems to generate a new proposed first cost.
Years of Experience:
4+ years of experience in Supply chain Management
3+ years experience in optimization principals, modeling, and tools
3+ years experience in data analytics
3+ years experience of project management
Education Qualification Certifications (optional)
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s/Master s Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related discipline
Skill Set Required
Primary Skills (must have)
Understanding of US based carriers. Knowledge of transportation freight terms
Must have strong analytical skills to create models to remove freight from cost.
Strong communication skills, so their analytics can be effectively communicated back to the US team for negotiations.
Experience in Data mining and visualization tool such as PoweBI, SQL, MS Access and Excel
Experience in building analytical models, proficient in mathematical and Statistical analysis
Experience in or knowledge of Supply Chain Planning and Optimization through use of modeling and simulation tools
Working knowledge of Merchandising decision-making tools for Suppliers, Items and Sourcing to include Financial determinations
Familiar with Inventory Management, Planning, Forecasting, and Transportation processes and systems
Secondary Skills (desired)
Experienced in Python and R
