Job Description: Industrial Relations (IR) Asst. General Manager

Role Overview:

The Industrial Relations (IR) Manager is a critical role in the Manufacturing & Continuous Process Industries, responsible for maintaining harmonious labor relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and resolving industrial disputes. This position requires a strong understanding of labor laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with employees and labor unions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Labor Law Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to all applicable labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Stay updated on changes in labor laws and regulations and implement necessary changes.
• Conduct regular audits to identify and address potential compliance issues.
• Employee Relations:
• Build and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels.
• Address employee grievances and concerns promptly and effectively.
• Implement employee engagement programs to foster a positive work environment.
• Conduct regular employee surveys to gauge morale and satisfaction.
• Collective Bargaining:
• Negotiate and administer collective bargaining agreements with labor unions.
• Represent the company in collective bargaining negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with the terms of collective bargaining agreements.
• Dispute Resolution:
• Mediate and resolve labor disputes through negotiation, conciliation, or arbitration.
• Develop effective strategies for preventing and resolving industrial disputes.
• Represent the company in labor court proceedings, if necessary.
• Performance Management:
• Oversee the performance management process for unionized employees.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to employees.
• Implement performance improvement plans as needed.
• Training and Development:
• Identify training needs for employees and develop training programs.
• Conduct training sessions on labor laws, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Safety and Health:
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents.
• Promote a culture of safety and health in the workplace.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Additional Considerations:

• Industry Experience: Experience in the Manufacturing & Continuous Process industry is highly preferred, as it provides a deep understanding of the specific challenges and dynamics of the sector.
• Leadership Skills: The IR Manager must be a strong leader who can motivate and inspire their team.
• Ethical Conduct: The IR Manager must maintain the highest ethical standards and act with integrity.
