Assistant General Manager Procurement

Objective:

To carry out procurement function and lead a team of 8-10 persons for RM procurement. The candidate must have experience of more than 20 years experience in commodity procurement, specifically RM like Aluminium, copper, PVC, XLPE etc related to cable manufacturing industry. Should be able to comprehend volatility of commodity items, develop and implement effective RM procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Strategic Planning and Management:

• Develop procurement strategies in collaboration with cross-functional departments (Sales, Operations, Finance, etc.) and analyze the market trends.
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, and negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure the best value and quality for the company.
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and monitor their performance to address issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
• Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices along with tracking and reporting on key procurement metrics.

II. Hedging Strategy Development & Execution:

• Analyze market trends and commodity price fluctuations (Al, Cu, PVC) to identify risks and proactively address deviations from targets.
• Develop hedging strategies to mitigate price volatility and minimize the impact of market fluctuations on procurement budgets.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to procurement activities and hedging.

Experience & Qualification:

• 20+ years of experience in procurement management.
• Hands on experience in SAP specifically MM module
• Bachelors in business/engineering or; Postgraduate in Management (MBA/PGDM/PGP) preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
• Proven leadership ability and conflict resolution skills.

Candidates having experience of Cable industry are preferred
