THE ROLE
The Business Development Lead plays a crucial role in driving the growth and expansion of a company. Their primary responsibility is to identify new business opportunities, build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and develop strategies to increase sales and revenue.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifying and Evaluating Opportunities
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential areas for business growth.
Evaluate market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to develop strategic plans.
Identify new business opportunities, including partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions.
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
Understand client needs and requirements, and tailor solutions to meet their business objectives.
Conduct regular meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients to promote products or services.
Sales and Revenue Generation
Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
Identify and pursue new sales leads and opportunities.
Develop pricing strategies and proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
Track sales metrics and analyse data to identify areas for improvement.
Market Expansion and Networking
Identify and target new markets and customer segments for business expansion.
Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build networks and generate leads.
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop effective marketing campaigns and promotional materials.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure smooth execution of business strategies.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Keep updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and stay ahead of the competition.
Reporting and Analysis
Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities.
Analyze data and provide insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards business goals.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience & Education
Master's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field with a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy/ Science is preferred
Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of market research and analysis techniques in the CRO industry.
Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office suite.
Behavioural Competencies
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Results-driven with a focus on achieving sales targets.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
